Jazz Classes
Jazz is described as various dances characterized by the use of improvisation and influenced by rhythms
and techniques of jazz music. Jazz is a more contemporary kind of dance as compared to ballet. Jazz
dance techniques are based on the basics of ballet. To excel in jazz dance, the dancer must master ballet techniques. Jazz emphasizes the control and motion of the body with freedom of style and expression.
Class consists of stretching, isolations, and center floor combinations including coordination and cardiovascular exercise. Various styles of jazz are incorporated including musical theater, lyrical, Latin,
and swing.
- Broadway Babies (ages 4-6)
Beginner level of jazz for students with little or no previous experience. Students will learn basic
steps and technique.

Beginner level of jazz for students with little or no previous experience. Students will learn basic
steps and technique.

- Jazz II (ages 9 & up)
Intermediate level of jazz for students with at least 2 years of previous experience. Students will
learn increasingly difficult vocabulary and practice quality.

Advanced level of jazz for students with at least 3 or 4 years of previous experience. Students
should have a comprehensive grasp of vocabulary and technique, and will continue to refine
movement style and quality.
